The Jazz Protagonists are one of San Antonio’s favorite bands. Since 1990, they’ve pleased audiences and critics with an incisive and witty sound in the tradition of Dave Brubeck, Duke Ellington, and Oscar Peterson.
Because of their name and their reputation (burnished by their on-air presence on the radio show The Protagonists Jazz Party, 9pm Tuesdays on KRTU), The Jazz Protagonists are often associated with serious (joyous) jazz for listeners — but the trio shines in events settings, whether the need is for background music or dancing.
You can find out more about them at their website, jazzprotagonists.com, where there are pictures, discographies, albums for sale, and hours and hours of free music to download.
